Based on a metal wall rail that is secured to the studs and covered with a white plastic cover, this system is very popular for suspended closet organization projects. All of the structural closet components hang off of this rail. The weight of the system is carried by the studs and is very strong. Typically used for closet systems with 84" top shelf height.

Advantages of suspended systems:

• No need to remove existing base or crown mouldings from the wall
• Does not extend to the floor, so carpeting can easily run underneath the system and changing the flooring is uncomplicated
• Custom cutouts around heating vents and electrical outlets are usually not necessary
• Usually less expensive than a mixed or floor based system

The majority of custom organization systems use a combination of suspended and floor-based pieces to create the greatest functionality along with the most beautiful appearance. Having both types of systems available allows for the creation of optimal design solutions based on the individual needs of each customer. Can be used on traditional  84" top shelf height systems or extended height systems of 94" top shelf height. 

Advantages of mixed/hybrid systems:

• Saves money on materials and labor in areas where running to the floor is not required
• Provides more design options and creativity during design process
• Provides the extra floor support in heavier areas such as drawers, shoes, or open shelving. 
• Gain extra drawers, shoe shelves, and open shelving
• Better overall aesthetics 
• Gives customers the option of utilizing the height of their rooms by running the extended verticals or stacked units
• Usually less expensive than a floor based system

Floor based systems are designed to be supported by the floor and include a cabinet base box that raises the closet a few inches off the floor. 

Advantages of Floor Based Systems:

• Additional base and crown mouldings options can be added for a more polished "furniture" look
• Best aesthetics and overall appearance
• The best type of closet system available for buildings where walls are constructed with plaster and lath rather than drywall
• Best type of system for projects where walls are are not straight and/or wavy. 
• Best weight support  for areas such as pantries.
